Michael Caplice

Michael Caplice has over 17 years of experience in all levels of government service and has been serving as the Long Island Director for the Office of the State Comptroller. Throughout his tenure there, he has helped thousands of people with numerous types of issues, including making sure they have access to their retirement pensions, recovering unclaimed funds, and helping to protect taxpayer dollars from fraud and abuse.

Previous to working at the Comptroller’s office, he worked for the County of Suffolk, the NYS Assembly, and the U.S. House of Representatives. His work has been highlighted by a variety of media outlets, including Rolling Stone magazine and the nationally syndicated radio show “52 Players with Frank MacKay.”

In his free time, Caplice is an active member of the community, including being a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Long Island and a Life Member of the NAACP, as well as being a member of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy, Irish Americans in Government, and the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island. He is also an avid supporter of many other organizations, including the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cycle for Survival, the Humane Urban Group, and AIDS Walk NY.

Caplice was born and raised in Westbury, NY. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the Honors College of Adelphi University, where he received the Thomas S. Knight Memorial Prize in Philosophy and the Charles H. Levermore Prize for Best Senior Thesis. He is also a recipient of the 2020 Executive Circle Award from the Long Island Business News.
