Hossam Maksoud, PharmaD is CEO and Founder of Community Care Rx, a long-term-care pharmacy that provides comprehensive pharmacy services to assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, OPWDD residential facilities and others.

Maksoud holds a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from St. John’s University. In 1993, he established Maksoud Pharm Inc., a chain of independent retail pharmacies in the New York area. He later went on to launch Hempstead-based Community Care Rx, which employs more than 150 people and provides clients with custom-tailored pharmacy programs.

Five years ago, Maksoud established a new division, Community Care Consulting, in which experienced consultant pharmacists provide clinical expertise and services to long-term-care facilities and residential institutions. Two years later, he added the Community Care Specialty Pharmacy, which works with the entire healthcare ecosystem to connect patients who have chronic and rare conditions to medication, information, and financial assistance. Maksoud and his team have special expertise in providing services to patients with HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, rheumatic disease, osteoporosis, and other conditions. The recent acquisition of Orphan Pharmacy Services, a specialty pharmacy in Syosset, expanded the company’s footprint to serve customers in 31 states. To further assist nonprofits and the vulnerable populations they support, Maksoud recently launched The Maksoud Foundation, a charitable organization whose goal is to increase access to medication, healthcare and other vital resources.
