Patricia A. Winston, DNP MS, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, was named the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations at SUNY Downstate’s University Hospital of Brooklyn in September 2020, following an 18-month appointment as Interim Chief Executive Officer of University Hospital of Brooklyn.
As UHB Interim CEO, Dr. Winston guided UHB through one of the most significant global health crises in more than a century working with staff—both hospital and system—as well as with leadership and public health officials.
Dr. Winston has served on numerous boards and in professional and leadership capacities in the following organizations: American Nurses Association, Delaware Nurses Association, National Association of Health Service Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and the Delaware Organization of Nurse Executives. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and The Links, Inc.
Dr. Winston has received awards from the American College of Healthcare Executives, Girls, Inc., the National Association of University Women Community Service Award, and YMCA of Delaware Black Achievers in Business and Industry Award. She was named to Crain’s inaugural list of Notable Women in Healthcare, and The Network Journal 25 Influential Black Women in Business.
Dr. Winston earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from The George Washington University, her RN diploma from the Nursing School of Wilmington, Delaware, and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from West Chester University in PA. She is board certified in Nursing Administration and a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.
