Dr. Jerry Balentine

Dr. Jerry R. Balentine is New York Institute of Technology’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He spearheads new initiatives involving research, oversees strategic resource allocation, and evaluates opportunities for growth and expansion. In addition, Dr. Balentine continues to oversee NYIT’s School of Health Professions, College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM), two Academic Healthcare Centers, the Center for Global Health, the Center for Sports Medicine, the Ehlers-Danlos Center, and the Parkinson’s Center.
Dr. Balentine joined NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine as a faculty member in 2009. He became Vice President for Health Sciences and Medical Affairs in 2014 and was appointed NYITCOM Dean in 2018. Previously, Dr. Balentine was the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the St. Barnabas Hospital and Healthcare System in the Bronx, New York.
He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Emergency Medicine Residency at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Balentine established the Urgent Care Center on Rikers Island, served as a consultant to SBH Prison Health, and operated his own Urgent Care Center in the Bronx. He is the past President of the NY Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and has served as Vice Chair of the NY State Board of Medicine, Chair of the Finance Committee of the NYCOM Educational Consortium, and on the Education Committee of the Federation of State Medical Boards.
